Happy New Year to everyone!
This year AWRT Philadelphia/ Tri-State chapter is dedicated to making a strong emphasis on uplifting our industry professionals, getting members connected, and enabling more networking opportunities.
We’ll kick off the year with a fun networking mixer at Bleu Martini in January, so I’ll hope you’ll be there! All the proceeds are to benefit Breast Cancer.
And don’t forget to start planning for the Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. this March.

Welcome to the Philly/ Tri-State Area!
I’m excited to be a part of this chapter’s revitalization. We prepared a lot over these last few months to make our AWRT chapter work for you. Some of you participated in a survey that helped us to plan our chapter’s future. And, your insight has not been taken lightly!
Our board is actively pursuing more members, improving our events and making a strong push for greater donations and sponsorships. Take this time to make the most of your membership! And if you haven’t joined, or have let your membership lapse…quickly jump back on! There’s a lot going on with AWRT – and we want you to be a part of it.
We currently have the following areas that are open for participation and assistance:
Events Committee – 2 groups (Students/ Entry Level) and Experienced Professionals
Membership Committee
Fundraising Committee

EVENTS: Our events will be geared towards the specific nature of our membership base. Students and Entry Level Professionals will have the opportunity to hone in their networking skills, learn about the different opportunities available within this industry, and AWRT. We’re planning a series of seminars and networking events for experienced professionals. And we focused on a variety of times and locations that will work best with your busy schedules. We have also partnered with various organizations within the area to enable better and more programming opportunities. And, we’re also scheduling a variety of social/ networking events for the students/ entry level and experienced professionals to get together and make the most of AWRT.
MEMBERSHIP: We’re in the midst of our membership drive. Please visit our JOIN NOW page, and refer a friend! Don’t forget to pick Philly / Tri-State Chapter as your affiliate Chapter.
Please know that everyone – men and women - have the opportunity to grow through AWRT. You don’t have to just be in the media or electronic fields to join. Our organization’s mission is to advance and encourage women in these fields. Your support will help our cause. As I’ve recently stated to a few new members, our membership base spans across many fields, communications, art, theater, engineering, history, English, PR, marketing, advertising, accounting, legal, etc. Of course, they were surprised when I said accounting, but each station, production, network, etc. has a finance department! FUNDRAISING: As with any non-profit, we could not be here without your support. Your funds will help in our efforts. And more specifically, a portion of all the funds we receive go directly to our scholarship fund. These funds will go to deserving college/ university students throughout our region.
